Now this is a bit of an oddity. Angel Falls is a detail from a larger project, the beginnings of which you can see right here. The brief was to come up with a label for imaginary bottled water company Angel Falls. Within the narrative the company brand had be old fashioned, and more than a bit sexist. The label needed to be low tech, hand drawn, and a bit tacky. I'd love to have real briefs like this. In the end I spent a ridiculous amount of time on this illustration, considering that in the final comic it will be a tiny detail - a fact that means that this illustration is far too complex when reduced. I've since done a much simpler one for final use....

The cycling tour of Britain came through Pendle last week, and I yomped up a hill to try and capture some of the action as they finished the crawl up...

Here's a drink and draw that I've saved for a rainy day before giving it a good colouring in, and I'm glad I did, because I love vikings. At least...

Freedom Scorned – the beginnings of a new graphic novel?

I saw a bit of the big painting challenge programme on tv, or as I like to call it, the Great British Paint Off. This week they were drawing and painting the human figure, which is a wonderful thing to do. During the bit that I saw, a contestant was praised for a great piece of drawing, and a good...

An amazing night at Drink and Draw in Blackburn this week with fire breathing and flaming hoop performer Leah Sophia. Had a lot of fun drawing (I'll post those later). Between sketches I photographed like a loon....

Most landscape photography is landscape. That makes sense doesn't it? But sometimes a landscape looks better cropped tall. Or a landscape might really be a portrait of somebody or something....

Christmas 2014

I've taken one of my life drawings from Blackburn Drink and Draw and turned into a fetching shower curtain design. As Society Six is a multiple product platform, this is also available as a clock, so you always know when bath time is. Also available as a duvet cover, tote bag and pillows. If you're wondering why she's floating so high in the water, it's because she's a femme fatale and she's sitting on the evidence of her latest grisly crime passionale....
