    Todmorden Challenge

A short film to highlight a short piece of missing railway line that could make a huge difference to folks wanting to travel between Burnley and Manchester.

Thanks to MJ for the drawings, we also scripted this together. I did most of the animation and the voice over.

Just once it would be nice to get someone with a local accent to do the voice over. Maybe next time.

    Planning Video

Planning. It’s not easy. Here’s a short film to help put you into the unfortunate shoes of someone from the planning department. Concept, script, animation, voice over and music all by me (blimey!) – watch out for the sheep being squished by a falling house.

It’s not easy being a planner for a local authority. Thank the lord I’m not a planner; this game was used in schools to give pupils an idea of how complex planning can be, with its conflicting requirements and interested groups.

Unlike a normal game you cannot win this. You can just get to a point where not everyone hates you.

My great mate, personal friend, and colleague, MJ worked with me to produce this interactive flash game. Amongst other things MJ supplied the buildings, the whistling (hover over the tree thing on the horizon*) and the mathematics that power the game. Together we took this from concept through to finished project, supplying cartoons and action script code and everything else you can see.

*It’s Burnley’s singing ringing tree. A local landmark that really does whistle in the wind.
