So here is, a little late, the final few October Sketch-a-thon drawings. For the final lap I at last did a Dracula and Frankenstein’s Monster. I also went totally obscure with Halloween on the planet Tralfamadore and a strange tableaux featuring a mid 1970s Cliff Richard being haunted by a succubus. Of course he was never […]
Halloween is over
The Giant Pumpkin Man
As we near the end of the Spoo Sketchathon, The Giant Pumpkin Man gets the full colour treatment and some old friends resurface. Teddy Scare and animated murderous Rosie Doll were, to my mind, amongst the spookiest drawings so far and what better way to celebrate that then to have them fight? Aren’t kids toys […]
Stabbity, Stab, Stab
The Spooky Sketch-a-thon has reached day twenty one this week and covered some pretty dark topics – sentient puppets going Stabbity, Stab, Stab being just one! Highlights of this week include: A witch who’s too old for a broomstick, so prefers to ride on a cauldron (there’s more room for her shopping) The aforementioned murderous canal-side […]
Canibal Pumpkin Man
The Canibal Pumpkin Man is just one of the colourful characters to have emerged from my October Spooky Sketch-a-thon. But he’s the first to actually be in colour! The story goes that he hunts down members of his own race of pumpkin men and turns them into delicious soup.
When Chickens Rule the Earth!!!
The second batch of my Spooky Sketch-a-thon includes the When Chickens Rule The Earth trilogy. If you want to keep up-to-date with the Spooky Sketch-a-thon you’ll need to go and like my artist facebook page which I’m updating daily. The Chickens Rule idea came to me as a dream and I’m not entirely sure if it […]
Spooky Sketch-a-thon
I’ve set myself the October challenge of a Spooky Sketch-a-thon. A sketch a day with the theme of horror or spookiness. Here’s the first batch. More to follow. My favourite so far? The Cannibal Pumpkin man – making soup from his own kind…
Angel Education
Daughter has been working on a script based on the tv series Angel, its called Angel Education. She imagines a spin off series where the vampire with a soul opens a school for young demons and witches. Always keen to encourage her literary ambitions I have come up a with some logo ideas for the […]
Effervescent
What a lovely word of the week effervescent is. It just bubbles and laughs like a giddy young lady floating through life with glass of champagne and bright ginger hair. I feel like this is very close to what I had in mind when thinking about effervescent. Big shout out to Josh at Rhode Island […]
Devilish
Devilish was the self generated word of the week and here’s what I came up with. Style wise this is the most comic-book-like thing I’ve done in ages and it’s definitely indicative of things I’ve been reading in the last week or so. First up, this smashing article on comics alliance detailing Jenny Frison’s cover artwork for Ghost […]
ZOO
A zoo is a fascinating place, and it’s a lovely looking word. So here it is, a lovely word looking a bit like the thing it describes. A sort of visual onomatopoei – I bet there’s already a word for that.
Stargazer
A lonely stargazer provides inspiration for another sketch inspired by the fablefolk word of the week. The word was ‘finding’. I never quite make the deadline but I do have fun in the process. Ten points if you can find out where the quote comes from*. Twenty points if you can suggest a better font. […]
Zombie Hares
Zombie Hares rock! It’s an undead leporid – coming right at ya. Or just shambling off to one side like zombies do. Did this a while back as part of a the Mad March Hare meme down at the Artists’ Hangout.
